Alyona Kirtsova was born in 1954 on the island of Svalbard, Barentsburg. Studied painting at the public school of Vasily Sitnikov (1973-1975). Founder and a member of the creative association Hermitage (1986-current) and one of the founders of the Utopia Foundation (1933-current). Among solo exhibitions are “Retrospective” at the Moscow Art Centre (2002), “Alyona Kirtsova” at the State Russian Museum (1994) and “Frankfurt Aufenthalte” with Gia Rigvava at the Karmeliterkloster Gallery (Frankfurt am Main, Germany, 1996). The works are in the collections of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (New York, USA), the Jane Vorhees Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University (New Brunswick, USA), the Corcoran Gallery of Art (Washington, USA), the Alberto Sandretti Foundation (Milan), the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), the State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg, Russia), as well as in the private collections of Leonid Talochkin, Mikhail Alshibay.
