“I take to heart people’s stories, archival footage and personal experiences of traumatic nature. I transform them into vivid, moving images within frightening plots. The figures in my work are often dismantled, reflecting the sense of oppression and helplessness that arises from the suppression of the will. The background also reflects instability and disintegration: it is made up of parts, similar to a stained glass window, it can act both as the ground beneath your feet that is about to collapse and swamp you inside, and as an inner chaos that destroys the figure and its perception from within. Children who are unwittingly caught up in the plots become adults like their parents. Trauma over time can transform into mental health problems. That is why my work is aimed at raising awareness of the protection of women’s and children’s rights. My artistic practice is not focused on the application of a single painting technique. The colors and mediums I use are dynamic. For me, the flexibility of a medium is another way of reflecting on events and conveying their content.”
