Galina Agafonova is a multidisciplinary artist working at the intersection of contemporary art and technology. She is a graduate of the Rodchenko Art School (workshop of Yulia Vergazova). Her practice encompasses photography, installation, and landscape, merging photography with spatial practices. Her projects have been presented at London Group Open (London), Wells Contemporary (UK), Rotterdam Photo (Netherlands), the Krasnenkaya Biennale (St. Petersburg), and the Cosmoscow art fair. The artist's solo and group exhibitions explore the interaction between humans, environment, and new media; they have been recognized by critics and gained international acclaim. She is the author of the photobook "OASIS", which is held in the collections of the Garage Museum and MMOMA.
Galina was born in Kyiv in 1988 and grew up in the Moscow region. She currently lives and works in Moscow. After studying at the Rodchenko School under Yulia Vergazova, she deepened her practice in photographic thinking and experimental media. In 2023, she already had a solo exhibition, “LANDSCAPES”, at Gallery22 and in the virtual space of Voxels Metaverse. In 2025, her works are included in several group exhibitions — from “Strong Wind” on the White Lanes platform to the project *Sudden Oasis* as part of Cosmoscow x VEB Center. She is also participating in the thematic exhibition “Water in Art. Water in the Estate” at the Arkhangelskoye Museum-Estate, where her visual explorations of environment and material enhance a dialogue with nature and the urban fabric.
Primary media: land art, photography, objects, installation, sculpture, video. She works by creating situations of ambiguous context within natural and urban spaces, resulting in their documentation or reconstruction in objects or installations.
