Vasilisa Lebedeva

Vasilisa Lebedeva was born in 1984 in Novosibirsk. Lives and works in Moscow.Educated at the British Higher School of Art & Design in “Fashion Design” (2016)and “Contemporary Art” (2020). Graduated from the School of Contemporary Art“Free Workshops” at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (2020). Studied at theBakstein Institute of Contemporary Art on the “New Art Strategies” course. Residentat the creative laboratory curated by Nikolai Polissky from the New Tretyakov Galleryin Nikola-Lenivets (2021), Open Studios from the Winzavod Center forContemporary Art (2022) and the residency at the Peredelkino House of Creativity(2023). Participated in the ColLab programme “The Vaults” from the House ofCulture of GES-2 (2022). Solo exhibition “Labour! May! Sprout!” was held at theFabrika Centre for Creative Industries (2022). The solo project “Scheme” from thecommunity Art.Boloto was held in Moscow (2023).

About the artist
Vasilisa Lebedeva is an interdisciplinary artist, co-founder of the creative community “Art.boloto”. In her practice, Vasilisa Lebedeva works with a mythological structure, where she can take plots and characters from different myths and fairy tales. By collecting components from different myths, the artist builds her own system through which she works with topics such as awareness, human interaction with other people and the world around her. She explores the design of a fairy-tale world order in the format of personal and historical mythology.
