The exhibition offers viewers a multifaceted exploration of the concept of home through the lens of contemporary painting. Georgy Khomich has developed a distinctive artistic language that synthesizes the energy of the Russian Fauves, the complex eclecticism of Peter Doig, and his own professional experience in scenography. His works are a dialogue between the tradition of painting and theatrical convention, where each image exists on the threshold between reality and fiction.

The exhibition is structured in three acts, with each floor of the gallery presenting a separate chapter of the narrative:

“The Attic”- a space of memory and archive, where painted canvases imitate the format of postcards and letters addressed to oneself. The works are executed in a collage technique that combines oil painting with elements of old photographs and faded documents. The viewer finds themselves in a kind of “repository of memories,” where time loses its linearity.

“Interiors”- the central section of the exhibition, where the gallery spaces are transformed into interiors familiar to everyone: a living room with patterned wallpaper, a dining room with grandmother’s china set, and a balcony overlooking a symbolic “courtyard.” Bright, almost Fauvist canvases stand alongside furniture and domestic objects, creating the effect of total immersion. The artist masterfully plays with scale, transforming ordinary details into monumental symbols.

“Journeys” – the final section of the exhibition presents the metaphor of home as a boat setting out on a voyage. Here, familiar interior elements are transformed into navigational instruments, while the paintings assume an epic scale. Seascapes and cartographic imagery merge into a single visual poem about movement and the search.

“The theme of home in art may seem universal to the point of banality, yet Georgy Khomich succeeds in avoiding cliché,”notes curator Darya Tishkova. “He uses the cliché itself as material for play, creating complex visual paradoxes. His paintings do not document reality; they stage it upon the platform of an imagined theatre.”

The exhibition invites viewers to reconsider the familiar understanding of home as a dynamic space of inner life that accompanies us throughout our lives.
