EXHIBITION DESCRIPTION

The title refers to a popular Internet meme, which depicts fairytale or mystical scenes – forests, magical rooms, fantasy interiors – accompanied by the caption “this is where I post from”. These images have gained viral popularity as an ironic way to express an inner desire
for solitude, isolation, and a return to something more alive, outside of digital interfaces.

I build my own visual myth, putting it together from fairytale details, images of girlish fantasy, and familiar forms of pop culture. Magic mirrors, satin shoes, armor — objects often attributed to the world of the “infantile” or “feminine” — become carriers of ritual meaning. Through exaggerated decorativism and narrativity, I create a parallel world in which one can rethink the usual perception of oneself and reality.

Fairytale aesthetics become for me the language of escapism and a way to rethink the connection with the environment in the era of continuous digital presence.

The exhibition is accompanied by a sound composition created specifically for the exhibition in collaboration with interdisciplinary artist and resident of the GOST ZVUK label — Stasya Batskikh. Sound design is the shimmering beauty of deconstruction and audio sampling, imbued with the mysticism of experimental electronics and love for accessible sound sources — field recording and voice. The exhibition space
features jewellery created by Stasya based on my paintings.
