Olevsky’s pictorial world is equally allegorical and literal. The artist deeply experiences the ancient heritage. His series “Two-part paintings” immerses the viewer in the myths of ancient Greece and Rome.

Moira weaves a thread of fate, Fortune’s wheel spins in a frantic dance, and the goddess of hunting Diana, caught unawares by Acteon in a moment of bathing, turns the celebrated hero into a deer.

Feodor Olevsky with a special reverence for nature. Expressive series of works “Life of pines and herbs” is not only a tribute and expression of affection of the artist to the Karelian Isthmus, where his country house is. It is also a masterly recreation of the month, day and hour when the canvas was born. Gusty wind tangles in the foliage, the air is filled with the scents of herbs and flowers, and the sun is as bright as it is only in the summer months between the Gulf of Finland and Lake Ladoga.

The “HOMO” series can be rightly considered the apotheosis of the exhibition. The allegorical essence of the works teases the mind and awakens the imagination. Looking at the raging elements and accentuated literal portrayal of people, you perceive in a new way the meanings that the artist put into the title of the paintings. In the collective portraits we can guess different shades of emotional states, which can be combined, for example, foreboding or aggression, or enthusiasm.

Fyodor Olevsky is a philosophical artist who weaves together “fable and true story,” making earthly and understandable the heroes of high classics and elevating human passions to the scale of the elements. He juxtaposes human feelings and the four primary elements of the universe, inviting the viewer to recognize himself in the archetypes brought to life on paper.

Olevsky is a graduate of the Repin Academy of Fine Arts, the studio of the People’s Artist of Russia, Professor V.V. Sokolov. Sokolov.

Since 2011 a member of the Union of Artists of Russia.
