About the artist
Olesya Rubeko was born in 1997. For a long time lived in Kaliningrad and Moscow, since 2023 lives and works in Saint Petersburg. Graduated with a Master’s degree from HSE ART AND DESIGN SCHOOL in the Contemporary Painting program curated by Vladimir Dubosarsky and Oksana Simatova (2021).
The artist’s creative practice is based on the study of man and his relationship with the surrounding world – psychological attachments, combinations of the rational and the sensual, desire and imagination, the search for external and internal balance. Conceptual solutions in Olesya Rubeko’s works are constructed by creating metaphorical spaces in which seemingly incongruous images harmoniously coexist.
