SISTEMA GALLERY is taking part at the Art Central Art Fair at the booth C-33 in section Duk Dak with the solo project about the art created from astronomical objects of Russian artist Rostan Tavasiev. The Art Fair to be held at Hong Kong’s iconic Central Harbourfront (Central Harbourfront, 9 Lung Wo Road. Hong Kong) from 27 to 31 March.
The artist: Rostan Tavasiev
Rostan Tavasiev’s idea of space artworks projects is based on the artist’s observation that in science fiction art is presented in classical techniques. He proposes to create art from space objects. The artist develops these projects in consultation with scientists so that it is hypothetically possible.
The “Planetary Nebulae” series represents what shapes the artist plans to give to nebulae by impacting the clouds of cooling plasma from shed star shells. It will take twenty thousand years to prepare and realize these projects. The size of such a sculpture is comparable to the size of the solar system.
The “Asteroids and Comets” series presents projects of space sculptures based on interaction with small bodies of the solar system. In 2021, Tavasiev, in collaboration with the Skoltech Space Center in Moscow, developed a space mission prototype to turn asteroids into bases for astronomical observations and into artworks. Modules are to be placed in the form of eyes on asteroids that will scan the Main Asteroid Belt for minerals.
Also to create artworks Tavasiev intends to use comets lined up in orbit chains around the Sun. Thus, the solar system will turn into a huge colored firework sculpture.
